I’ve had the great joy of photographing a few marriage proposals in my life. So far, we’ve always disguised it as a regular couple shoot, and the proposal happened naturally at the right moment. This time, however, I faced a slightly different challenge. The fiancée wasn’t supposed to know at all that someone with a camera was present, so as not to arouse any suspicion.
The wonderful team at the Naturhotel Forstguthof, where the proposal was planned, had already decorated a small area away from the hustle and bustle with flowers, blankets, and candles, creating a cozy setting. Meanwhile, I had already hidden in the bushes, trying my best to stay out of sight. When the couple arrived, it didn’t take long for the all-important question to be asked. The surprise was huge, and the joy even greater. Of course, the moment was celebrated properly with a bottle of prosecco, and we took advantage of the beautiful evening light to capture a few truly special moments between the two of them.
I’m all the more excited now that I’ll soon get to capture the wedding of these two wonderful people.
